Therianthropy

A meridio shift is a sub-category of cameo shift, where a therianthrope temporarily adopts the theriotypes of a close non-human friend, and only when in the same vicinity as them. This is caused by a close connection, or friendship, between the two non-humans. These shifts end when the two are not near each other and normally take the form of phantom or mental shifts.

The word 'meridio' is derived from the Greek word for 'share' (μερίδιο --> merídio --> meridio).

Creation[]

The first use of the term can be seen in a Reddit post from the 8th of August, 2024. [1]

"for some reason, I always get cameo shifts of his theriotypes when I'm near him. Never on the way there, and they end when I leave" "I've started referring to these shifts as meridio shifts"

Example[]

E.g. a wolf therian (A) is hanging out with their friend (B), who is a snow leopard therianthrope. B may have a phantom shift of a wolf's tail or ears when around A due to their strong friendship/connection.
